GOBLET LEARNING PROCESS
During the summer of 2018 me and a former schoolmate of mine named Alex Krissberg (MA craft, Glass, Konstfack 2018), had the hotshop to ourselves for two weeks. During these two weeks we practised making goblets. I was totally new to these techniques and have never made a goblet before. As of this point I have just passed my first year mark when I started blowing glass and I was way out of my comfort zone.
The process of making goblets is a highly advanced part of the glass craft and I thank Alex so much for helping me to advance my crafting capabilities and teaching me the necessary steps.
After this experience I have continued working with goblet making on my own, which have been hard and unforgiving process but a fun one nonetheless.
MOTUS BACKPACK
MOTUS BACKPACK
This is a group project between me, PĂ¥l Ahlsen and Johannes Moser that took place during the autumn of 2017.
During this project we (the entire 2nd year class) traveled to Greece to visit and partake in volunteer work at some of Greece's refugee camps both on the mainland and on the island of Lesvos.
In the camps we got to see the situations and conditions these people lived under, there we also gathered inspiration and information to design something for or around these people.
In my group we decided to make some sort of backpack / sleeping arrangement, a sort of care package for the people on the move. The design proposal came to be a insulated sleeping pad that could be folded in to a backpack. The backpack consisted of a watertight sailors bag that the sleeping pad was folded around.
The sailors bag had a volume of about 20 liters and could be used as a pillow or as a flotation device if needed. another idea with the sleeping pad was it could connect to others to make a wind cover. The sleeping pad had two sides one white and one black to either absorb or dissipate heat which can be useful to keep cool or purify water.
ROOM IN ROOM
ROOM IN ROOM
This project was a colab between students from the Industrial design department (me, Hajar Sedequi, Boyeon Kim) and textile craft department (Robinne Ă–man).
The goal with this project was to somehow activate the room that we inhabit, and one criteria is that the "coustomer" we worked with where kids from a nerby pree school.
We got the idea from a brainstorming session to work with a air cushion to activate the surrounding space, air obviously can't be seen by the naked eye so to visualize the activation of air molecules we hung thin light drapes high above the cushion.
It activated the kids and in turn activated the surrounding space a lot, so much in fact that the cushion ripped at a double seam with a heavy duty vinyl thread.
MATERIAL RECORDS
A project I started just for the fun of it have become somewhat of an obsession. I had in idea of making records in different materials to conceptually be able to hear the sound different materials. It all started with the plaster record that is a copy of an old
78 rpm record.
I continued my work by carving grooves and bumps with a lathe in different materials such as different types of plastics, metal and wood. down below you can find some sound bites from the different records.
